Maxis Broadband!!

look what I’ve got yesterday.. yeah, that’s what you called a modem.. I subscribed to Maxis Broadband yesterday, on desperation of having a broadband in my house. why not using Streamyx? oh well, guess this one offering same speed, PLUS it’s mobile! which means I can bring the modem anywhere I want, get connected anytime I want..
I’ve been using DiGi EDGE for the past 6 months, just imagine the limitation I have when connected to the internet with a not-so-fast internet connection. the DiGi EDGE is reliable, I can always connect whenever I want, and so far I faced no downtime from DiGi. but with only EDGE, definitely not enough for me.
I always need a good speed when it comes to surfing.I know there is a FAIR POLICY from Maxis where I am limited to 3Gig download per month, but based on my usage experience, I never reach that limit so I guess it’s not gonna be a problem. the only thing I have to face with this package is that, tied with 18 months contract. if suddenly DiGi managed to offer 3G connection with cheaper rate, then I am definitely will regret having this Maxis 3G. Hi there, good to see u subsribed the usb maxis broadband.. we are using usb maxis broadbang around 1 month and half ald. And its quite ok. Quite fast. the maximum download rate is 1024Kb/s.
Just want to share u, the 3GB limitation is only applicable for the other packages. For usb, it is unlimited. I asked the customer services ald and then in my 1st month I’ve used around 8GB
… no problem..

i am using digi edge as well. hope maxis broadband/3g will live up to the expectations. I heard that their 3g services always down, not accessible at condos, thus most of the time, you end up running at edge or gprs speed. LOL!

referring to mypdacafe.com, I guess maxis broadband is much better than celcom, that is why I am eager to subscribe one and test it myself. I’m living in high-rise condo, my one day experience, around 700 to 800 kbps download speed constantly is not bad at all. just that I noticed when I leave the connection idle, it turned to disconnect.

I wanted to subscribe to the Maxis Broadband but my area (Persiaran Meranti, Sri Damansara) is not listed as the available area yet. They told me that it will be ready by Oct 2007, but still not up yet until now. Anyway, I’m also connected to Celcom Broadband via my 3G phone. So far the speed is not as good as they claim nor as good as Maxis. But at least it’s slightly faster than DiGi’s EDGE. I use Celcom mainly because they have this unlimited service for prepaid users, RM8 for 24 hour unlimited access. If Maxis have the same package, I will definitely use Maxis instead.

The 3Gb limit is applicable to all package. However the sales people always say no limit at all.. for any package. But if you read the fine print in the Terms of Agreements it is there.
Only thing is that Maxis has never enforced it. So when they do … donno la what will the response be.
I may be wrong. I hope.

DO NOT SIGN UP TO MAXIS BROADBAND!
If you love your kids, don’t let them use Maxis broadband.
Kids who surf slower, learn slower and with the added pressure from having an unstable internet connection and constant disconnection could lead them to having suicidal tendencies at such a young age.
IF YOU LOVE YOUR KIDS, SAY NO TO MAXIS BROADBAND!
